When we want to say that we are going on holiday, the correct phrase in English is go on holiday. The word holiday does not function as a specific place, but rather as a period of time or an event, which is why it is used with the preposition on.
By contrast, we use go to when we are talking about a destination or a place we are going to. That is why the following expressions are correct:
W: We’re going to holiday in Spain.
R: We’re going on holiday to Spain.
