Another week, another preposition error! Unfortunately, mistakes are unavoidable with prepositions because there are no uniform rules, and they are often different to the Czech prepositions.
This week’s error concerns the sentence, „I need to do some stuff to school.“ In English, we only use the connection ‘to school’ when we are talking about transport in the direction of school, e.g. I go to school at 8 am.
When we need to do things in connection with school, for example, homework, we need to say ‘for school’. It kind of makes sense. We are doing something. Who for? For work? For our mum? No, we are doing it for school.
